What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?
My favorite animated movie is Inside Out. I love how it portrays the many emotions we have as human beings and how relatable each character is.
What is your favorite children's book and why?
My favorite book is "Love You Forever" by Robert Munsch. I love this book because it symbolizes the amazing relationship between a mother and her son, something I have cherished my entire life.
What was your favorite childhood toy?
My favorite toys as a child were my stuff animals. They all had special meanings to me and some I still have to this day!
Who is your greatest inspiration and why?
My greatest inspiration is my dad. He exemplifies selflessness and hard work like no one else I've known. He's taught me the essence of being a quality human being and the importance of working tirelessly not just for oneself, but for the entire family. Despite facing tough challenges, he has never wavered in his determination and is one of the greatest humans I've ever known. Every day, I strive to be even half of the incredible person he is.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
My hobbies are going to the beach, walking, pilates, traveling, and spending time with my family, friends, and my dog, Porter.
What inspired you to work in pediatrics?
I wanted to become a pediatric Physician Assistant because I was deeply inspired by the care and support I received from my own healthcare professionals during my childhood. Their dedication in helping children overcome illnesses, mental health challenges, and injuries left a profound impact on me. I aspire to provide the same compassionate care and guidance to children, ensuring they maintain a positive outlook on life even in difficult times. Being able to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young patients is what drives my passion for pediatric medicine.
What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?
My unique value lies in the way I approach each patient and family relationship. I see myself not just as a healthcare provider, but as a partner in your child’s or family’s health journey. I prioritize open, transparent communication by explaining medical decisions clearly, listening without judgment, and always involving patients and caregivers in care planning. My trust is built through consistency, compassion, and follow-through, so families know we will never let them fall through the cracks. By blending clinical excellence with genuine connection, I aim to deliver not just healthcare, but peace of mind.

We love Dr. Derek and the rest of the staff at Pediatric Associates! First, we attended one of their newborn basics classes before our little guy was born which was very informative and also allowed us to get a feel for their office. Then we booked with them as soon as our baby was born and have no regrets! Dr. Derek explains things in a way that is easy to understand but also eases my first time mom anxiety.

I have been using pediatric associates since 2016 back when they were just future pediatrics and they have ALWAYS been amazing Dr Derek and Jessica are the best ones there BY FAR and Dr lynn. This is the ONLY pediatric doctor I use in bay county and will continue to use they have seen all my kids and all my kids absolutely love them as much as I do. You will never go wrong by going to see these 3 doctors as this pediatric clinic I promise you. They will rule out any illness possible and do their upmost best to find the source of the illness no matter how many visits it takes! They make you feel like family

Cant say enough about this practice. Anytime I call about my babies they get me right in. Everyone is always so pleasant and cheerful. Kendrianna always has an inviting smile on her face and makes you feel welcome. She has exceptional customer service and if there’s something she can’t answer doesn’t mind finding out the info for you. I always look forward to seeing her at my kids appts. Can’t thank her enough for being so kind and welcoming to others. Great group of young ladies working for this practice. Highly recommend them.
